Maria Solozobova is regarded as one of the most promising violinists of her generation. Prizewinner of numerous prestigious international competitions, she received First Prize and the Audience Prize at the Johannes Brahms Competition in Austria (2000), First Prize at the W. A. Mozart Competition in Zurich (2005), as well as awards at the Tibor Varga Competition and the Rodolfo Lipizer Prize.
Her dazzling career has taken her to some of the world’s most renowned concert halls, including the Tonhalle Zurich, Stadtcasino Basel, Victoria Hall in Geneva, the Berliner Philharmonie, the Kölner Philharmonie, the Great Hall of the Tchaikovsky Conservatory in Moscow, the Konzerthaus in Vienna, and the Philharmonic Hall in Ljubljana.
As a soloist, she has performed with leading orchestras such as the Baden-Baden Philharmonic, Taipei Philharmonic Orchestra, Cape Town Philharmonic Orchestra, Württembergische Philharmonie, Basel Symphony Orchestra, Zurich Chamber Orchestra, Camerata Zürich, Festival Strings Lucerne, Zurich Symphony Orchestra, Geneva Chamber Orchestra, Orchestre de la Suisse Romande, Ljubljana Philharmonic Orchestra, Romanian Philharmonic Orchestra, Moscow Philharmonic Orchestra, the Moscow chamber orchestra “The Seasons,” and the Tchaikovsky Symphony Orchestra of Moscow.
She has collaborated with distinguished conductors including Vladimir Spivakov, David Zinman, Vladimir Fedoseyev, Vladimir Jurowski, Daniel Raiskin, Muhai Tang, Peter Csaba, Howard Griffiths, and Michael Hofstetter.
A frequent guest at many of the world’s most prestigious festivals, both as a soloist and chamber musician, Maria Solozobova regularly performs alongside internationally acclaimed artists such as Martha Argerich, Mischa Maisky, Yuri Bashmet, Maria João Pires, Vladimir Ashkenazy, Sol Gabetta, and Mikhail Pletnev.
Maria Solozobova’s playing is an enthralling combination of virtuosic power, creative spontaneity, tonal warmth, elegance, and profound musical insight. Her repertoire spans from the Baroque period to contemporary music. She performs on a 1728 Italian violin by Nicolò Gagliano.
In 2009, Maria Solozobova founded the annual international concert series Classical Highlights Zurich, of which she remains Artistic Director, presenting four concerts each year in distinguished concert halls across Switzerland. Since 2015, she has taught at the University of Music Lausanne.
