I Profeti della Quinta

Performs on:

The vocal ensemble Profeti della Quinta was founded in Israel by the singer and harpsichord player Elam Rotem, and is nowadays based in Switzerland where its members undertook further studies at the renowned school for early music, Schola Cantorum Basilienses. The ensemble focuses on repertoire from the 16th and 17th centuries, often on hitherto neglected works, and aims to bring it to vivid life for the audience of today.

Since winning the York Early Music Young Artists Competition in 2011, the ensemble has performed in prestigious venues and festivals in Europe and Israel. Highlights of its 2013 schedule include a tour of the Netherlands as part of the Oude Muziek season as well as concerts at the Göttingen Händel Festpiel, Stockhom early music festival, Festival de l’Abbaye de Saint-Michel en Thiérache and the Festtage Alter Musik in Basel. The ensemble released its first CD of music by Salomone Rossi to great critical acclaim (PAN Classics, 2009) and was featured in the documentary Hebreo: the search for Salomone Rossi directed by Joseph Rochlitz (Lasso productions, 2012).
